When I was growing up my room was pretty and pink. I loved storage baskets even back then to store my make up, jewellery and nick nacks. My fav baskets being small white love heart shaped ones that sat centre stage on my dresser. Read More
Now as an adult I’ve taken my love (obsession) of all things Rattan and Wicker to a whole new level.
I am, however a self confessed Minimalist but I’m also human and I do love pretty things. We all have our vices and my top two just happen to be all things Farmhouse and Rattan, especially baskets. But I must point out I’m not scrolling online Decor stores purchasing unnecessary clutter just because I like it, but I do love to window shop and scroll Pinterest at pretty things often (don’t we all...or is that just me). You can follow me over at Pinterest for more beautiful INSPO. The items I do purchase are not just sitting on the floor or a dresser having no purpose. I think that’s the point here, even as a Minimalist, there is nothing inherently wrong with buying things and spending money, but being intentional about it is key. But the wheels can fall off occasionally with spending, a lesson I learnt the hard way recently about keeping up with the Joneses that you can read all about here. I first decluttered my home more than a decade ago in my former home but I didn’t need many storage or organisational items as I had ample storage cabinets and cupboards to store my life. But when I downsized my home a few years ago I have less storage cupboards, so my old love of baskets got a reboot and slowly morphed into a tiny (big) obsession and I gave myself permission (excuse) to buy a few new pretty baskets to organize my home. I have baskets of all sizes organising lots of different things. I have them in the Kitchen, Pantry, Living Room, Laundry, Bathrooms and of course, yep you guessed it...the Bedrooms. I love the asthetic look of rattan and seagrass baskets not to mention they’re so functional and lookso fancy!
I recently cleaned out my my walk in pantry and used that as an opportunity (another excuse) to purchase a few new beautiful rattan white & natural baskets to store snacks and pasta packets and doggie treats on the lower shelves, they made such a difference and truly transformed the look with one simple addition (or should that read addiction...you decide)!
Below are a few of my personal favourites that I have or are similar of what I have in my home to store all things big and small.
